Zbigniew Libera - taboo topic or not?

I just had to post it, was wondering how much do you guys know about his lego art and what your thoughts are? Or is it taboo?

I knew nothing about it before your post and like anyone would, I googled it. Personally I wouldn't find the subject matter, the holocaust and depicting it through Lego Mocs, taboo but a) I hardly speak for this site or anyone else and b) I am not easily offended but don't hold against someone if they would be offended by it.

I found the Mocs interesting and personally fall into the category of we should never forget human tragedies lest we repeat them.

Very interesting, I hadn't heard of him before either. I don't see anything wrong with discussing it. I'm surprised that he would even put the LEGO logo on his custom sets, he even had it printed on the box saying that his sets were endorsed by the LEGO group. :/

I. too, had to look him up. Honestly, I don't think too highly of his work. It smacks of sensationalism just to be sensationalist.

I applaud LEGO for supplying the bricks to him instead of being concerned that the works would portray them in a bad light. I'm sure the use of the logo is covered under fair use in satire/parody/art, but the fact that he then somehow took this to mean that they endorsed his work and printed it on the box per above is a bit deceitful.

Actually, when lego realized what he created, they tried to get him to withdrew his sets from public view, eventually they stopped.
Sensationalism? You're right, they say that he's provocative.

I had never heard of it either...but I looked it up as well. For those who don't know, I guess he is best known for building a lego concentration camp.

It is one of those things that is not being judged based on the design or the quality of the build but what the model represents (cough)femaleminifigproject(cough). I guess some people find the subject
matter inappropriate for Lego.

Judging from a Lego model point of view I'm not very impressed. I feel like the design could be easily improved upon.
