Lego snow - clear or white?

So I'm getting ready to build my winter toy shop and will add the holiday bakery when it hopefully arrives soon. Each year we also put together a big Department 56 holiday display, and 56 makes a plastic- type snow that you can put down around the houses that makes the scene look more realistic. I'm considering trying to do the same thing with the holiday Lego houses by scattering 1x1 plates around, but I'm curious - would white ones or clear ones look best? Before I go out and buy a bunch of them I thought I'd throw this out to our expert community here to see what you thought. Any insights will be appreciated - and I'll be sure to post pics of the final product!

It seems to me, in the 'Winter' theme sets, they use white for snow and clear for ice, as exhibited in ice-skating pond in the new Bakery set.

Thanks as always for your expert insights! One caveat I forgot to mention - I plan on loosely scattering
the bricks around the scene as opposed to building with them. If this changes your opinion please let me know. Thanks so much!

Both would be good. A bit of scattering and a bit of building.

If your going to scatter them I would definitely go with white.

This. It's a lot easier to tell what it is if it's white because if you go with clear you will pretty much have no options left for ice except a transparent blue, which in my experience most ice is not.
