I remember the Christmas train being sold at 50% off ($50) and no one wanted them. Now the freaked things are selling for over $600. Go figure I only bought one. Seems ripe to sell.

Realistically, due to the size and online aftermarket, people are better off selling this locally. Though the low secondary market prices are certainly a great deal for buyers, I loved getting it from LEGO during the sale and for 50% off? It was well worth it, despite some parts of the build not being that fun.

When investing in LEGO sets, you have to accept the worst outcome: they just become pieces for your collection. Now if you spread out investments, you should find some real winners that take care of the "losers". Sets that sell in bulk @ 50% off are going to be risky and will definitely require patience at a minimum.

This set came with the Hoth Han Solo variant and the Chima Battle pack. Not counting reward points, my cost for these was $80 each after I sold the extras. The investment was minimal and I could sell them now and still make money. I'm going to be patient and wait a while on this set though. It's ceiling is probably much lower than other UCS sets, but this was a bargain.

I had 5 of those. All purchased when Lego had them for $100 each. I listed them on eBay for little over $200. They were just sitting there listed for almost a year I think. And then within one week, I sold them all- funny. Well I didn't loose any money, I doubled it :)
