75917 LEGO Jurassic World Raptor Rampage Set Picture
The first image of a LEGO Jurassic World set has appeared on Mashable. This set is LEGO Raptor Rampage 75917 and contains 3 minifigures including two raptor dinosaurs. Jurassic Park sets will be available beginning in May 2015 while the Movie will be out in June 2015. (via theBrickfan)

I'm in love with the raptors. It's awesome that it includes two and a brick separator, though that worries me on the price point. With the vehicle looking to be large enough to store the raptors, with three minifigs and all the accessories it looks like they're angling for playability with this license.

The velociraptors are already too large in the films (according to paleontologists). That aside the raptors in this set are way too huge for the minifig scale. Look how huge they are!

Yep, velociraptors in real like were only 4 feet, maybe 5. There is a different raptor that was 6-8 feet like in the movie.legolebowski wrote:The velociraptors are already too large in the films (according to paleontologists). The big raptor is to distract you from LEGO bending you over and making you cough, because that's how the price feels.

Ha. yeah, I suppose that is true.
Did some Google image searching. I guess I totally missed out on the Dino theme, but looks like the raptors in this theme are from the same mold. There was another dinosaur in the Dino theme, the Coelophysis, that should've been the ideal scale (or at least better scale) for the Velociraptor.

Comparison:

Yep, it looks like all the dinos outside of the Indominus Rex are from the exact same molds as the Dino 2012 theme. The I-Rex is simply a retooled version of the T-Rex, with somewhat bigger arms, and a slightly different shaped head. The body and legs are the most similar in that they have some extra spikes/scales but for the most part is exactly the same. I have some of the Dinos theme stuff so I am not sure how much of the Jurassic World stuff I plan on getting. From what I have seen, I am a bit underwhelmed

I have Dino Attack or Dino 2010 in Europe. I missed out on the last dino theme because the cost was too much and never was on sale around here. Let's hope the movie bombs and they go on clearance really quickly! :)

I think having them bigger helps with the play value. No fun if you can't fit at least a minifig head in their mouths.legolebowski wrote:The velociraptors are already too large in the films (according to paleontologists). Good point. maybe I`m just being a bit pedantic about the scale.
All in all they do look great. A whole lot better than the Lego Studios raptors.
