Why the price of Mindstorms NXT 2.0 became more expensive?

The first time I saw it used only for $239.97 but now i see it at amazon.com for $623.98. whereas the old products

Out of production LEGO set now becomes collector's item and goes up in price. That wasn't always the case back in the old days.

There are several price levels
New in Box (NIB) are now rare. NiB guarantees all the parts, software, and instructions are there and the electronics are okay.
In Original Box (IOB) with instructions and promise that all parts, software, and instructions are there suggest that the set is in good condition albeit used - electrical stuff may have some normal wear.
Used Complete and incomplete sets are what I see most of the time - electrical stuff may or maynot be there unless so promised.. .
