Fun DIY LEGO and sugru projects

Has anyone decorated their desk with these projects, eg organizing cables with minifigures?

I want to try this as well as making minifigure hair which was listed as an idea. If you have any silicone available as well as corn starch you can make a sugru like substance but it won't have nice bright colors like the real stuff as the corn starch lightens it a little http://m.instructables.com/id/How-To-Ma ... ubstitute/

I just picked up a tube of black silicone at Walmart in the automotive section today after I struck out looking for clearance LEGO. They also have red and blue... Unfortunately you cannot use anything but silicone, eg there are products carried silicone ii in the caulk section and those don't work.
