I leave a msg to Sears that this is a gift please make sure the box is good when I placed order, and I selected pickup at a Sears store instead of shipping to home...

Sears is OK if shipped to the store. Sometimes things are pretty banged up as well. Overall it's worth the risk though. I would recommend not shipping to home as they usually just place the shipping label on the LEGO box. At best they will place the LEGO box in a plastic bag and then ship it out like that...

Last time I orderd a Lego set from Sears, I selected to ship to store and the box was literally destroyed; creases, dents and multiple puncture holes...beware. IMHO, not worth the risk, if you care about that sort of thing that is.

It's no better if you select home shipping, as it's true they will slap the set only in a bag.

This set is only available from third-party sellers on Amazon.ca. It seems you are perhaps referring to Amazon.com (the US site), where it's listed for $116.37. The 2015 Holiday Gund bear is also on the US site, not the Canadian, unfortunately.

I've had some success leaving a message. If you don't say anything they will put the sticker on the box itself, which rips the box when removed. And now given the thinner cardboard used the boxes get dented and creased more. Then, on occasion, they will put it in a plastic bag, which may help with the sticker but I've gotten one that had a warehouse sticker on the box and the pick order sticker on the bag :(. Last order actually came in the LEGO case the box came in...this was ideal.

The Price has been up... only 20% off now. They did attach the shipping label on the Lego box last time I ordered a set from Sears.ca, I hope I will be lucky by selecting store pickup this time. If the box got too many damages I think I will return it...

It had, indeed, gone up, but it seems to be back down to C$119.99 now. Seems like their sales must have plummeted when they increased the price to $127.99. Any rational buyer would simply choose Costco at that level...

I have stopped buying from Sears when they delivered my boxes in (totally unprotective) plastic bags. More then half the boxes where dented and crushed. So much that I had to get them back at the store for refund. Some boxes had stickers and that got me infuriated at the time. I have to say, however, that I managed to remove all stickers without any damage to the boxes.

Shipping directly to the store was only a bit better. Not enough to make me consider Sears.ca as a viable LEGO buying place.

did everyone forget with sears, there is always bound to be a promo code to use? Unfortunately I only found a $10 off coupon 941612514; the next level is $15 off when $150 is spent. so this is a good deal when combined with the promo code.

since sending past purchases to an approved sears pick up the last few times, I never have any issues with damaged boxes anymore. the sticker they use can easily be taken off without tearing the box.

but you never know whether this time around there will be damage. is 32% off worth the risk...

I haven't bought any Lego form Sears but I did buy a few Nanoblock sets when they were 50-60% off. Had them shipped to the store. All arrived in plastic bags, but the boxes were in good shape. Definitely risky if you want perfect boxes, though.
