New US LEGO Brand Stores coming to CT, MO, TX and UT

Why Danbury CT? :S Odd choice.

How so? There's a rather huge mall there, and a lot of other shopping in the area. I know my wife drives there to shop at Trader Joe's all the time, and it's a 40 minute drive or so each way.

Looks like another grand opening I'll be able to attend - been to the Roosevelt Field and Rockefeller Center openings previously.

I agree, but it's close to NYC so maybe they think the rich money will go there. I would have thought Manchester area would make more sense, TONS of shops there.

Used to live near New Haven, so thought it would make more sense for a LEGO store to open in the big mall along Boston Post Road considering the population and geography (also close to the only Ikea in CT which attracts tons of people). But I forgot about the rich folks living near the NY border, which makes sense of the choice, lol. Edit: Also I just really wanted a LEGO store near NH/Bridgeport in case I move back, so I'm a little biased. :)

I've lived in Utah my whole life and have never actually come across any polygamists.

I grew up in South Salt Lake, and at the time there were 3 polygamist compounds within 1/2 mile of my parents house. They tended to stick to themselves, but were easy enough to spot at the grocery store as the women typically dressed in a "Little House on the Prairie" fashion. But a few years ago, there was a big criminal case brought up against one of the SLC poly-families (I forget the name at the moment)---accusing the patriarch of effectively forcing young girls (14-16 y.o.) into arranged marriages against their will. After that case was announced, two of the three families in my childhood neighborhood packed up and headed for more remote areas of the state. But, one family is still there.

(back on topic) It's nice to hear that SLC is finally getting a Lego store. I have many found memories of Fashion Place. It will be fun to take the kids there next time we visit.

There's a greater chance of me going to the Danbury store Grand Opening than the Freehold one, unfortunately.
It's only about 40min to Danbury whereas it's over 2hrs to Freehold from here.

Does anyone know when the CT store opens?

Doesn't look like there's any news on that front yet - I know, I'm anxious to find out, too. Hopefully it's not during my vacation this summer!

Oddly, it appears the Danbury, CT store has disappeared from the list, to be replaced by a few additional stores including one at "The Westchester" in White Plains, NY. That store would be half an hour away from the one at Palisade's Center, which would be strange - unless they're planning on closing that store and moving it.

I was looking for info on the Danbury Fair store and found a question on the mall's official Facebook page that says the most recent information is that the opening will be in October:

I think I'm going to put more faith in what Lego has to say than the prospective mall's facebook page.

What I find interesting about the White Plains store is that it's only about 15 miles away from the Palisades Mall store in Nyack, NY. So clearly, if they'd put this one in so close to the Nyack store, then why not 20 miles away in Danbury?
