In the first post of the thread? Maybe you need to adjust your color...elronds legs have green on them. The cape in that picture is blue. The same as on the packaging. Also the same as the short cape.

This is a little silly at this point. You have all the info you need to get the correct cape. There have been pictures posted of the correct cape and the part number. Multiple posts by more than one person have said the cape is not green. If you got sent a green cape you were sent the wrong one.

This horse is well beaten at this point. :-|

I agree.

These two pictures say it all:

http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion ... ent_136611" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

When you click on that link, what color do you see? The two capes match.

My new capes look exactly the same as the long one in the picture and I've provided the part number.

Edit: Lego the hutt - I'm glad the information worked out for you and you were able to get the correct cape. He just looks all that more awesome, doesn't he?

The long cape does seem to fit better than the hobbit sized cape.

I'm just glad I was able to get the correct one from a LotR/Hobbit set completionist point of view. I don't want to be missing anything even if it is something as small as a cape. I'm weird and anal like that. I want my collection to be 100% complete.

Lego never emailed me about sending the correct cape or not. :/ Do they usually send out an email notification if the request is approved?

As I've noted several times now, Lego did not contact me after my query - the capes (and enclosed letter) showed up at my front door ~2 weeks after my request.

Did you email Lego, or did you use the function on the website for lost/broken items from sets?
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

Just used the website function. It did take me multiple attempts. Having the part number helped.

Sorry for bumping an older thread, but I just ahold of one of these today.

For anyone that used the online thing - I went to use the replace a part, but it ended with a describe set (since there is no set number) and describe the piece missing (I did use the part number listed in this thread). I finished entering the information and I clicked "add to bag" and it went back to step 3 (asking for a set number). Just making sure I did it correctly, and if not if someone could advise me (I've never had to report a missing/lost/broken piece before hehe). Or is it easier just to call them?

I think I just went to "contact us" and sent them an email explaining the issue.

Just got an email from them:

Dear Daryl,

Who knows where all those lost LEGO® pieces go – it’s frustrating, isn’t it? Not to worry though. I’ve sent the replacement parts to you! And best of all, it’s free of charge this time although we usually ask people to pay for replacement parts....

- Is that just a stock/canned response? I actually explained it was released with the wrong cape, and didn't say anything was "lost". So far I have had good luck with all of my sets, but I don't want to find out somewhere down the road they won't replace something that is actually missing because they sent me a cape once.

I don't know. They have sent me 3 single pieces (including the cape) without ever a charge. One piece was missing from a new, unopened set. Another white piece had a brown stain on it, and the cape. I don't think it will be an issue in the future.

Lego is usually good about making things right. I have 100% faith in their customer service, and I am reluctant to say that about any other company that I can think of off the top of my head.

Though I've never received your response, I wouldn't worry about their emailed response. Bottom line, your getting your cape replaced, that is the only thing that counts. I normally call them, when I need a new / replacement piece, the last was the wrong white flower from the Emporium set. I find it easier to talk to them, explaining the situation on the phone, rather than going the email route (unless is a normal / non-licensed piece).
