Beautiful set, but that's a lot of money and I'm not sure I like Ghostbusters that much. I guess we'll see.

Can't believe they actually made this into a set...has Lego ever sold another set with this many pieces?

I believe it has the 3rd largest piece count.

My question is, will this be re-released with different minifigures when the new ghostbusters movie is released in the near future?

I'm not sure if it is officially confirmed or still rumor at this point but it has been reported that we will be getting Lego sets based on the new, female, ghostbusters movie.

Pretty sure this one isn't in my budget but it is about $0.075 per piece which helps to justify the price. I think it looks interesting and can't wait to see more details (especially in reviews).

Good point about the female characters. IF they release female minifigures of the characters (new movie) they could release another version of the Ecto-1 (car). This could be interesting to see if they credit the IDEAS designer... if they receive share of profits or if they redesign it enough to warrant different set.. and hence no profit to the ECTO-1 designer.

They could perhaps even create other scenes or buildings from the new movie and not change this building or the ECTO-1. It will be interesting to see. Could they even release the female minifigures as LEGO dimensions minifigures and not even do other sets?

To my knowledge, the largest set ever (in terms of number of pieces) is the Taj Mahal (10189) at 5922 pieces.
The second largest (but probably the biggest or heaviest) set is the Millenium Falcon (10179) at 5195 pieces. This one could effectively be the 3rd of all time at 4634 pieces.

Expensive, yes. But 7.5 cents a part...and more importantly, little or no "waste" piece to go into the "I'll use it for supports" or "I doubt if I'll ever use this" bins. Dark Red, Dark Green, Bley, Tan....all quite useful.

Who is excited for this set? And who at the same time is disappointed in lego for being unfair to the lego ideas guy (sergio)?

Think this will be one of those "buy 5 now sell 4 later then buy a car" sets?
