Ninjago Lego build TRU - Saturday December 11th

Saw this advertised at my TRU this morning. Does this mean they are coming out before Christmas?

I wish they would do this here in Canada. It's a lot of fun when they have had building sessions, such as Mother's day and Father's day. My son absolutely loves these moments!

I've never been to one of these TRU events, or any other ones. Before I didn't know about them, but TRU is way too far away.

Has anybody heard what they are going to be doing? We are supposed to get nasty weather tomorrow. I want to take my boys, but don't want to risk the drive if it is going to be lame.

The poster I saw yesterday showed some kind of a weapons holder for Ninja swords. I don't know what that's called. I believe that's what is specifically being built. Then it also said something about demonstrations for playing a ninjago game (I believe).

Took my son to this yesterday. It was different than the other TRU Lego events we've been to.

The one worker in charge of the event was not a TRU employee (she was dressed in a suit). I did not ask but got the impression that she was hired to come to the stores and explain Ninjago (by Lego?). It was uncomfortable to watch a 50+ year old woman try to explain a child's game that she obviously didn't understand. I don't know if it's because of how she was explaining it but I don't understand the Ninjago card system at all.

She had two kid tables and a bunch of chairs pushed together. Probably about 10 kids were there when we arrived. This is small compared to past TRU events. Because the game explanation was really short, kids came and went, so they may have had a lot of kids over the entire time.

Everyone got the free sword and stand set to build, Ninjago headband, sticker and propaganda flier. My son enjoyed the set. He wore the headband while we were shopping in the mall after the event.

There were 3 or 4 Ninjago sealed mini fig packages as example, none of the actual building sets.
There were also a few open Ninjago so that she could demonstrate the game and the kids could try it as well.

There is nothing to launch the mini-figs, they are simply tops that you spin. It was awkward for the younger kids to get enough wrist action to spin the tops. The fig feet are loose and sit within boxes so that they can be knocked free but several times the fig just fell out because nothing was really holding him down.

I applaud Lego for trying something new and I think they had a good idea but these are overpriced and should have had some kind of auto-launcher. I had hoped they would give away a free mini-fig (silly me) because I'll never buy one of these for my son. I would pay no more than $3 for a single fig pack.

Yeah, that kind of stinks. Those packs with a spinner and a fig are ripoffs, and from the pictures there is not way for the Minifigure to stay in well. I think they will fail, especially becuase of the price, but the theme itself will sell better than Pharaoh's Quest because little appeals to kids more than Ninjas.
