Egyptian Temple

Post by zdog89 » Tue Oct 04, 2011 1:16 pm

Built a new Egyptian Style Temple. Nothing Complex, just for fun.
Image

The outside features duel sphinx's protecting the temple, with the added protection of two guards. The outside is colorful and detailed with gold accents and hints of color with red and blue.

Image

The roof features a tall obelisk, a edited version of the one from pharaohs quest. As well as two grey crocodiles and the all seeing eye. The actual roof isn't complete and was only put up to support the roof decor.

Inside features again rich colors and small details. There is a throne in the middle of the room, and two statues of a pharaoh on each side of the door.

Just for fun I staged the scene with the death of Cleopatra, the last pharaoh of Egypt. You'll see Marc Anthony who took his own life via sword, Cleopatra and her slave Charmian who followed her to the afterlife via snake bit.

Hope you liked it! Please feel free to review and critique. =)

Picked up one complete Forbidden Ruins Set on Ebay, then found a few lots with the printed panels. I bought around 5 of the small sphinx set that had the 3x4 panels in it them all in all paid around 120 or so for all the misc sets and lots I got but I thought it was worth it I love Egypt and love the way Lego designed the Egyptian Panels. My next goal is to build a Lego modular Egyptian Museum but that might still be some time away as I do have to acquire more tan and black pieces first. =)

In the first picture I got a different impression before reading your words.

Soldier: Go AWAY! Cleopatra is taking her nap and does not want to be disturbed.

She looks sort of like she's lounging in the first picture and I thought it was going to be rainbows and butterflies-happy thoughts. Then you go on to explain that everyone is dead. So... the guards are keeping everything under wraps until the coroner gets there-right?

Very interesting build. I like the long obelisk on top. Your shots are a little fuzzy-but your lighting is very good. I like the way the roof allows so much light in through the holes in the ceiling. Perhaps because of this it might be complete.

Thanks,
Jared

Thanks. I noticed while taking the pictures that with my flash the interior looked horrible. But then I moved the building closer to the light and noticed how nice it the light came through the roof. Yeah I tried to get clear shots but for a 10mp camera I was not impressed. My scenario goes like this: Marc Anthony kills himself before Cleopatra gets there, then she arrives and discovers the grim scene, heartbroken she and her loyal slave follow suit via cobra. The guards ever diligent remain until the Romans arrive at which time they are likely killed. Marc Anthony and Cleopatra's bodies are then taken to Rome where their are paraded through the Forum at the now Emperor Augustus' Triumph. (But hey it's not like I thought this out or anything.) I would have liked to build out that last scene too, but it was a bit much on my modest Lego collection.
