Hi all,
I have a ton of empty boxes from the 90`s, and maybe a few from the 80`s. Basically, I kept all the boxes durring my childhood. Im guessing 50ish, but I havent looked through them all. Some are minty, never folded and put in a box before they were stored. Small and large (trains, etc.).
I have kids now, and my oldest at four has inherited all my parts. It`s quite amazing actually how he can put together some sizable sets.
Anyways, I am cleaning out my attic and I have all these empty boxes (no instructions, my son got those too).
I am wondering if anyone can offer some advice on what to do with them?
I know Lego Boxes don`t add a huge premium to set, but it seems they do help with sales.
Ideally, it seems I would open an eBay store or brinklink store and list them all individually at slightly inflated prices and wait until somone looking for that specific box comes along. I don`t want to do that however. I could also list the entire lot on eBay, but I would rather quote exact shipping that have to estimate and lose my shirt.
I was wondering if anyone might be able to suggest a dealer they know who might be interested in purchasing them in bulk?
Or alternatively, suggest a forum where I might list them for sale (I don`t see a Marketplace type section here).
Aside from that, any suggestions at all are appreciated.

Re: Ton of empty boxes from the 90`s - Looking for advice
There is a buy/sell section on these forums. Here's the link:
viewforum.php?f=33" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It sounds like you don't have the bricks anymore, or perhaps don't want to sell them. Because if you sell a 100% complete old set with all minifigures, parts, instructions, and box, those would tend to sell for more. Each thing missing lowers the value a bit.
Ah you mentioned bricklink. Yeah, I think that would be your best bet there. You could start your own small store and wait for buyers to wander along. You could also post in the bricklink forums to sell them all at once (for maybe somewhat less than what they're "worth"). If it were me, I would start my own store and see where it goes, and then maybe try and bulk sell the remaining stock if it becomes not worth the effort anymore.

Thanks for the reply!
I can`t view that subforum. I`m guessing there might be post restrictions?
I do have all the parts, from all the sets I had when I was a kid, but they pretty much belong to my son now. I`ve thought about sorting it all and selling the sets, but with the effort required to do so, reality is that there is no way I could find the time.
Plus my four year old would not be pleased, even with the promise of new sets to replace. Also, my two year old has already been showing more interest in Lego than Duplo, and I have a third on the way. These bricks will see some use.
Still, it`s very tempting when I have sets like 4558 that have a part out value over $300 according to bricklink. Maybe when the kids are grown they`ll decide to open a store on there. They`d have a hell of an inventory with thirty years of sets and four people.
As it is now, I have twenty years of boxes in my attic and nowhere to really put it. While opening a BL is a good idea, I`d still be looking at a long time to get rid of them and some constant effort to do so.
I`m guessing I should probally do an inventory and get some pics then post it on the BL Forum, here if I get access and maybe even on eBay with an overpriced BIN plus OBO.
If it sell, great! I don`t mind taking less than `market` value if I can sell a bundle at once at a price where the buyer could make a profit with more patience.
At the end of the month if I don`t have any luck I`ll probally try to pack them up neater and find a nice corner of the attic to tuck them away in. The kids can try their luck in another 10- 15 years. No way could I ever bring myself to just toss them.
Side note: Man! The Bricklink forum is horrid.

Ha yeah BL in general could use some new technology all around.
Im with you on the idea to just sell all your boxes at once. I'm no expert but my gut says its not worth the effort to sell them piecemeal. Although it may be worth it to write down all the set numbers and go on BL and see what each box has sold for recently. Who knows, maybe one or two are worth the trouble to sell on their own. Then sell the rest as a batch.
And yeah let the kids keep the bricks. In another 12 years you can pitch the idea of parting the valuable ones together to sell and buy new sets / college money. Or not. :)
