Realize that consumer debt is a bad thing and exercise willpower? Big savings arn't so much savings once you're paying 20% compounded interest on them for a while. :P

This exactly. I know its hard since I have a feeling that alot of us, including myself, have a 'gotta catch em all' mentality when it comes to Lego. If you cant pay cash for it, or cant pay the credit card off as soon as you use it just dont get the item, the nagging feeling of not owning a set is far surpased by a load of debt looming over your shoulder. Please dont take this as preaching, its just coming from someone who was has been there, and knows the crushing oppression of debt.

And know that Im older and wiser(some would argue), my credit card is empty and I feel a lot better about things, I dont buy every set(again my wife would argue) even if it is on sale.

To summarize my early morning rambling: Don't go into debt for lego! The only debt you should be looking to get is a mortgage, then slowly but surely fill that house with lego paid for in full with no interest.

I thought he was just kidding and using an expression... I put money on the credit card that I can pay off later on to get the credit card rewards. I've spent a lot more than I planned on Lego this year and it's nice to know that other people find the deals this year irresistible depending on where they shop. Or maybe the lopo has serious credit card issues, oh well.

I don't know just how much he is kidding. By 'Traveling to the United States' I assume he means across the US/Canada border. It costs like $20 just to cross most points so you'd need to get a fairly nice discount just to make it work out.

I'm back to after some US Walmart scouting and picked up a couple of beat up Slave1's and also my Target.com orders. I think I am done for this year for LEGO shopping. No more LEGO for 2011 !!

I can afford it to buy but as previous poster said, it's like a gotta get them mentality that took hold and wifey is quite understanding for now !
