Glue For Base Plates

I am currently making a Lego table for my kids and will be gluing down some Lego base plates onto the surface of said table. I've looked at plans on a couple of different websites, and was wanting to know which kind of glue would be best to attach the best plates. A few sites recommend Elmer's glue because of the ease of take off later on down the line. Any thoughts on which glue would be best?

I used glue dots. They've held up pretty good for a year, haven't tried removing them.
