Which is better LEGO trading or selling?

I was able to pick up quite a few things at a really good price after the holidays. However, a few of the sets I got were not themes that we collect (Lord of the Rings, Batman, PotC etc.). We are mainly interested in City and Friends. Is trading the best option or would we we get better mileage on ebay/Amazon? Your opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.
