New Magazine for LEGO Families

Post by brickcollectors » Mon Apr 01, 2013 5:10 am

I've created a new publication for families who enjoy LEGOs - The Brick Collectors Magazine. It's a 20-page magazine that has features of interest to all ages including a Model of the Month, Building Challenges, puzzles for kids, LEGO book reviews, and more. In this issue I'm spotlighting the LEGO Homemaker sets. I'd really love it if you would take a look. The first issue is available from my website as a FREE digital download (no registration required). Just go to http://thebrickcollectors.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and click on the Magazine tab.

I'm hoping to generate enough interest that I can grow this into a regular print publication. Your support is appreciated!

Thanks for sharing, a good start I must say!
Some details that I guess would make an improvement for your next issue:

- In my opinion, a whole page (pg13) for a single information is too much, It would be probably better if you split the page and place the famous figures there as well giving them more space and leaving page 12 only for the review.
- In page 17, some of the letters over the photo are hard to read.
- In the last page, you have a gallery, but no credits for the builder, I guess is you or a member of your family? (It would also be nice to get permission from different AFOL builders and spot their creations there as well.)

Other than the above comments, who are just details, It's a great idea. I love the "Activity sheet", always fun to cut things off paper :) and the "model of the month" is also a good idea.

This is great! I plan to print out the word search and spot the differences to hand out at our afterschool Lego club, if that's okay. I'd like to see directions on how you made the flowers on the cover -- they are too cool! Thanks for sharing, looks like a lot of hard work!

I have no problem with you using materials from the magazine as long as it is for non-commercial purposes. I appreciate the courtesy of you letting me know you plan to do it, too. I hope the kids really enjoy it!

The flowers were pretty simple - you can see most of the detail if you look closely at the photos. The red one is made out of baseball hats. If I remember, I'll come back and post more pics for you.

I appreciate you checking out my magazine - hope you'll check back for more issues!

Nice attempt for a shopping cart. I think LEGO needs to make two-three new pieces to construct a good shopping cart. I really would like to see a suburban shopping center set from LEGO.

It's especially tough to make a "Friend"-ly shopping cart, since Friends' hands don't swivel. I wish they'd fix that, too.

I finally had a chance to look at your magazine. Nice job! I love the Friends shopping cart/grocery store. I need to put one together this summer!

My daughter will love the puzzles and word searches. Thanks for sharing!
