Contemplating Mr. Gold

Sell him straight away at the already high value prices?

Or wait it out until they are all picked up and hope that the value increases even more, given that there are only 5,000 world wide and they are individually numbered?

I think I'd sell. If you can really get over a $1000 for this thing, why would you keep it? The prices will go down once the hype is over I think. I mean its not made out of real gold is it?

I would be very surprised to see anybody here obtain one. You know what would be great? Mr. Gold ends up in the hands of a little kid and he/she doesn't even know what it's worth. 10 years from now when that little kid enters his/her "dark age", the Lego collection is sold at a yard sale and somebody posts on the forums about their great find.

But to answer your question, I would probably keep it as a piece of Lego history.

No minifigure is worth that much to me. There isn't much in my collection I wouldn't sell if the value increases substantially over time.

Searched over 1000 bags, and no luck. Once Wal-marts get them in, I'll do a search through them, but after it, I'm done. The price is dropping pretty quickly... already down to $700-800 range within first week of release, with less than 500 found.

I just scored a SDCC Phoenix for $81... she is way cooler than Mr. Gold, and there are only 250ish available? I'll buy a Mr. Gold next year for $100 instead of wasting too much more gas trying to be the first one to the boxes.
