Lego Minifigures Barcode PDF Auction?!

I feel sorry for the people bidding on eBay for those minifigure barcode PDF files. I just watched as an auction completed with an ending bid for $8.50 US for "Minifigs Series 8683 LEGO 1 BAR CODES for all 16 FIGS". Even worse is that the item says the PDF will be sent by email and as a Canadian it will cost me $0.29 for shipping.

Anyone who actually buys that deserves to be ripped off since they're most likely non-hobbyist scalpers. Anyone who knows the LEGO community knows where to find the barcode cheatsheet.

Nah, I couldn't be that hard on them. A person could still love LEGO and not be apart of an online website or community, come across this on eBay and think to themselves 'well hmm, this could be very useful.' You are right though, non hobby scalpers are probably going to get scammed themselves on this one. Why would you sell in the information? We're much more loving and helpful around here.

About two weeks ago somebody paid $20.50 for the decoder sheet. That's insane!! If you have access to ebay, there is no reason why you can't do a search. I went to google just to see how much work it would've been if they did a search. Within the first page you could've gotten that sheet. People sometimes are lazy and think ebay is the cheapest place to get things.

As a Lego enthusiast with kids who NEVER saw the minifigs in any store, it's hard for me to fathom how joe average on ebay would even consider the info useful, let alone valuable. I reported one of those $20 auctioners through the futile automated process when I ran across it, since they are intentionally misleading by miscategorizing the auction under Lego sets with a stock photo, but ebay's the old west, it's like swatting flies, an esucker born every minute.

the bidder could be the seller or seller's pals. you can quite easily cancel a transaction and not incur any cost.

The secondary barcode (not the UPC) is a unique identifier for each type of CMF - presumably used to fill boxes in a set ratio at the packaging plant, but also used by AFOLs to ID the figs they want.

The advertised lego 50% OFF, you see what looks like a bunch of Out of Stock sets at 50% off MSRP. However, in the lengthy description, one sentence says it is the instruction booklet. Yes $41.40 for say the instruction manual of the Batcopter. What a ripoff.

And they insult and argue like hell with anyone who dares call them a ripoff. Yes the description does mention "instruction manual" in an offhand way, once, in multiple paragraphs. And they post pictures of the lego store as if it was their actual store, and they even use graphics stolen off the Lego website.

And every time I see a post of praise for the store, I can only surmise they are posting it themselves.
