The Clone Wars

Post by Klepto440p » Tue Nov 26, 2013 1:56 am

Just wondering now that the new trilogy is just around the corner, will the clone wars sets become less popular thus decreasing their value. I have been collecting mostly the clones as I loved the playstation 2 games "Battlefront" the trilogy told from the soldiers perspective on the battle field. Also kind of love all the different insignia's and uniform prints distinguishing each type. It would be a shame if the clones were pushed aside and forgotten about, judging how poorly the prequels were received. But still think Episode 3 is great, even though I grew up with the originals.

Since the clone wars tv show is finished so are the Lego sets that were based on it. We still have 2 full years before the new movies come out but we are already getting sets from other non-movie Star Wars license properties such as the Yoda Chronicles. The Rebels tv show is coming soon and I'm sure we will be getting sets from it as well.

I don't expect clone wars sets to go up much more in value in general other than maybe a few individual sets. I know I have heard multiple people stating their dislike of the big anime type eyes on the clone wars figures. They don't match very well with more standard Lego figures.

As far as clone troopers go we will still be getting 2 years of prequel sets containing clone troopers before we are flooded with sequel trilogy sets. At that point expect the amount of OT and PT sets that become available to be maybe a couple per wave tops.

Cheers lth really appreciate the reply. I suppose then all is not lost for the clones (as mentioned in a recent thread), what with a new Battlefront coming out sometime and the cartoon probably being repeated to the n'th degree on various channels. Tbh I didn't know the eye's on the clones were an issue as I have all mine with the helmets on anyway. But I can probably see where they are coming from. Now the main question is whether or not I will ever be-able to afford the amount invested on clone tanks, republic gunships, at-te's, and battle packs all over again on a new trilogy. Still I have a Tantive IV (the last big recent one) and Boba Fetts Slave 1 from OT which is cool

Sorry long day yesterday, you mean't the eyes on the jedi clone war figures. I certainly don't mind them but each to their own I suppose. But Shaak Ti and the Blue figure from the latest clone tank (forgotten her name) are fantastic figures even with those eyes surely?

I believe the larger eyes were on all clone wars figures, not just Jedi (all human like figures anyway, some aliens excluded). But don't dwell on the eyes comment. I don't expect Clone wars sets to crash in value or anything, they are Star Wars after all. I was just trying to point out that you should probably temper your expectations a bit. Now that the show has ended it might be a little more difficult to find a buyer than it would have been while the show was airing. Some of the larger sets have already increased in value like the turbo tank you mentioned.

Have you seen the new trooper from the police gunship set? It has nice printing.

Yeah no worries, beginning to wonder why I ask really, because I will never sell them, too fond of them. It's probably abit of pride knowing that what you've collected will always be worth a tidy sum. But I've got to admit though my Republic Gunship, AT-TE and Turbo Tank have been the best lego sets I've ever owned. Also my other tank the 3 year old clone fighter tank looks cool with the Gunship with all the red and white bricks...sublime.
I've been drooling over some of the latest sets pictured on this site including the Coruscant police gunship set. I need to see a close up of those clones as they look similar to the ones that came with my older at-ap but still cool. The clone that's firing the gun on the latest one of those looks terrific, as are the ones on the Kashyyyk clone pack. But it's the General grievous one that I'm going for first. Always wanted a grievous but just missed out on the previous sets....
